The Department of Biomedical Engineering at RIET was established in 2024 with the vision of bridging healthcare and technology. Dedicated to innovation, research, and excellence, the department prepares students to design medical technologies, develop healthcare solutions, and contribute to society.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
- PSO 1: Apply basic mathematics, science, and engineering principles to analyze and design biomedical systems.

STUDENT ASSOCIATION – BIOZEC
The Biomedical Zone for Engineering and Creation (BIOZEC) is the official student association of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, RIET. Established to promote innovation, creativity, and leadership among students, BIOZEC serves as a vibrant platform for academic and co-curricular growth.
Through seminars, workshops, student talks, cultural events, and technical activities, BIOZEC encourages students to explore biomedical technologies, share knowledge, and develop skills beyond the classroom. It also plays a key role in building teamwork, communication, and leadership qualities among its members.

Expert Talk – “Biomedical Breakthroughs: Trends Shaping the Future”
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, RIET, under BIOZEC, conducted an Expert Talk on “Biomedical Breakthroughs: Trends Shaping the Future” on 28th July 2025.
The talk was delivered by Dr. Nisha J S, Assistant Professor, VIT Vellore, highlighting emerging innovations and research in biomedical technology.
Student Talk on “Brain-Computer Interfaces”
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, in association with BIOZEC, organized a student talk on Brain-Computer Interfaces as part of its academic enrichment activities. The session was presented by Ms. Suhana Sanam (S3 BME) on 31st July 2025 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM through an online platform. The talk highlighted how brain-computer interfaces are redefining disability, transforming limitations into opportunities, and opening new possibilities in assistive technologies and healthcare. This event reflects the department’s commitment to nurturing innovation, encouraging student participation, and promoting cutting-edge research awareness in Biomedical Engineering.
Expert Talk – “Advancements of Electronic Systems in Breath Analysis for Medical Diagnosis”
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, RIET, through BIOZEC, organized an Expert Talk on 4th August 2025. The session was delivered by Ms. Liz Elizabeth Biju, Graduate Engineer, Schneider Electric, who spoke on the role of electronic systems in breath analysis and their applications in medical diagnosis.
Student Talk – “Smart Prosthetics”
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, RIET, in association with BIOZEC, organized a Student Talk on 21st August 2025. The session was presented by Mr. Akash A M (S3 BME), who discussed the development and applications of smart prosthetic devices, highlighting innovations that improve mobility and quality of life
