Research Lab: Mechanical department encourages its faculty member to continuously improve their academic qualification and teaching skills. The department has a research lab with work stations of configurations capable of performing high speed computations.
CNC lab: In this lab modern CNC machines are used. This lab will help to understand numerical computational techniques and programmed control units. To produce any highly automated part that closely matches the original CAD model.
CAD/CAM lab: In this era of computerization, CAD CAM lab offers a platform with all the necessary infrastructure where students get an exposure to various software and programming tools applied in mechanical engineering. It also makes them proficient in areas such as computer aided drawing, simulation, modelling and computerized machine operation.
Metrology and Instrumentation Lab: This lab enables the students to get trained in Calibration and Use of different measuring instruments. By the completion of this lab , student will have a comprehensive knowledge of uncertainties involved in any measurement.
IC ENGINE Lab: This lab gives students an exposure to internal combustion engines and various tests that are conducted on I C engines in order to measure various performance indicators of an engine. The lab has miniature models of various types of internal combustion engines.
Fluid Mechanics Lab: In fluid mechanics lab, students get a chance to study the construction and working of miniature models of various machines that work with water power such as hydraulic turbines, hydraulic pumps, etc. By completing these experiments and study, the student gets a basic idea of controlling fluid flow and properties of a fluid in motion. In other words, students become adept in the subject of fluid mechanics.
Production Lab: In this lab, the students are given an exposure to various basic production processes taking place in the industry such as metal cutting and turning. They are given hands on training in the most commonly used machines and equipments in the production field. The students are also made acquainted with the latest production techniques and production machinery used in industries.
Thermal Engineering Lab: Mechanical engineers often deal with heat, which is an excellent working substance. Hence thermal lab is included in the curriculum. This lab makes the students understand the basics of heat transfer. It gives hands on training to students for handling various heat flow controlling and measuring devices
Semester 6 Students Unveil Their Racing Car Project
In a remarkable display of ingenuity and collaboration, the semester 6 mechanical engineering students unveiled their latest masterpiece – a high-performance racing car. Led by the dynamic duo of Taran Jot and Vishnu Anil, alongside 22 other talented students, this project represents the pinnacle of innovation and hands-on engineering expertise.
Under the expert guidance of Project Guide Mr. Jibin T. Isaac and Head of the Department, Mr. Hari Krishna, the students embarked on the ambitious journey of designing and fabricating a racing car from scratch. Their hard work and dedication have culminated in a vehicle that promises to push the boundaries of speed and performance. At the heart of this racing marvel lies an 800-cc engine boasting an impressive 37 BHP and 59 Nm torque. Constructed with a combination of galvanized steel and mild steel, the body of the car not only ensures durability but also enhances its aerodynamic efficiency on the track.
The culmination of months of hard work, the racing car project stands as a testament to the students’ dedication, passion, and technical prowess. It not only showcases their ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges but also highlights their potential as future leaders in the field of mechanical engineering.
As the mechanical engineering students continue to push the boundaries of innovation, we eagerly await their next ground breaking project, knowing that whatever they set their minds to, they will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the world of engineering.
